As with all of our Beginner Sewing classes, $20 per student must be paid before we can place your name on the list. You must either bring your own sewing machine to class, or rent one from us for the day at $15 additional for the day. Each student brings his or her own supplies for the class, after we give you the list of what will be needed in order to make the project.

HOT PADS - NOVEMBER 4th
NEW CHRISTMAS STOCKING - DECEMBER 2nd
In the afternoon we will be showing you how to make "killer" monograms right on your embroidery machine! Using the lettering that is built in! This should be of interest to a lot of our embroidery customers, as we get questions about doing this all the time. It all has to do with knowing how your machine's lettering works. Sew...we will practice first on scrap fabric, and then we will help you to stitch a monogram on either a towel or a tote bag that you bring to class. Check out the supply list below so you know what to bring to class. Towels and tote bags require different stabilizers, so be sure to read completely through the supply list. This way you will know which stailizer you will need for whatever item you are bringing to class.
Monogrammed towels are a huge hit for wedding and anniversary gifts. And tote bags make great gifts as well. After all, who doesn't need another tote bag??
Here is your supply list for the afternoon session:
1. Your embroidery machine with power cord and 4" X 4" hoop or larger. (If you have a machine that does a 5" X 7" stitching area, you may bring your 5 X 7 hoop with you.)
2. A towel or tote bag on which to embroider. If you are bringing a towel, you will need water soluble topping for the top (Solvy -- we carry this at the shop), and water soluble stabilizer (Brother SA520 -- we carry this at the shop also) for the back. If you are bringing a tote bag or other firm fabric item, you will just need stabilizer for the back. We do prefer cut-away, but some people like to use tear-away behind canvas tote bags.
3. Embroidery Bobbin thread
4. Embroidery thread. Whatever color(s) you want to bring for your monogram(s). You should be able to do more than one in class, but remember that we will be practicing with the letering on your own machine first.
5. Scissors for cutting thread.
That's about all you will need for Saturday afternoon! Hope to see you here, ready to have a fun day!!
Our Software Club members will be continuing their study of fonts, but with the added fun of making great monograms with them! We have been starting at 9:00 am the past few months, and this has proven to be very helpful. We are not nearly as rushed to get through the lesson, and everyone seems to learn sew much more! Janome Digitizer and Brother PE-Design software only. If you own one of these two software packages, but did not purchase it from Linda's Sew 'n So, you will need to speak with Linda before attending a Software Club session.
$5 FEE PER SESSION, OR $8 FEE FOR THE WHOLE DAY.

The past three years we have made three DIFFERENT backpacks for our Beginner Sewing Classes. This one is especially cute, with two exposed zippers on the outer pockets. We have purchased these cute lacey zippers, and we do have extras to sell to our students. Our classes have been attended by young ladies, and by adults. So check out the August 26th class before it has filled. We did mention the August 5th class, just in case someone cancels out of it. Call to find out which dates are available before sending your check for $20. Our classes fill very fast, so if you are interested be sure to sign up right away!
UPCOMING SOFTWARE & EMBROIDERY CLUBS
Software Club: 9:00 am - Noon
Embroidery Club: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Our Software and Embroidery Clubs are totally "Hands-On" seminars!
Therefore, those attending Software Club bring their laptops, with either Janome or Brother digitizing software already loaded and ready to use. We require an external mouse, and prefer that it be a USB wired mouse, rather than a wireless one.
(Wireless "meeces" sometimes like to take over computers next to them, if the "next door" mouse is also wireless!)
Embroidery Club members bring with them their Janome or Brother embroidery machines, with power cord, embroidery presser foot, hoops, hoop templates, and any supplies needed for the project of the month. Some project require the use of both an embroidery machine and a sewing machine. When this is the case, we reminds those who have a combination sewing/embroidery machine to bring all of the presser feet for both functions, as well as the foot pedal for sewing.
We charge $5 per session per person, or $8 if someone is staying for the whole day. Anyone attending receives a special club discount on items they wish to purchase on club day.
We send out information about these software and embroidery seminars in our e-mail newsletters. If you do not already receive our newsletter, feel free to click on the button at the top of this page where it says "Join Our E-mail List." Then you will always know what is going on without having to check out the web page for information. And sometimes we forget to put the latest information here on the website.
Sew...receiving the newsletter gives you everything you need to know on a timely basis!
This class requires the purchase of a pattern for the wallet. The pattern price is in addition to the class fee. This pattern has three different wallet designs in it, and the class will all be doing the same one. Above is the printable supply list for the project:
This little pouch can be made from just about any fabric. We chose leftover fabric from our Sling Backpack! So now we have a matching set!! And yes, you can certainly sew through clear vinyl. We have some in stock, but be sure to check with us early to see if we have enough for you. It can be purchased at JoAnn's stores in several different gauges (thicknesses). The supply list gives you the thickness needed for this project.
